6 Tips to Manage Weight Gain during Pregnancy

Pregnancy brings a lot of changes in a woman’s body which is very normal. Every pregnant lady goes through a lot during the whole journey as it is almost a life-changing experience. Growing a new life inside your body is something that is no less than magic. That is why it is very important for a mother to keep herself healthy and happy during this whole journey. Even a minor action has a lot of effect on the baby growing inside you. Pregnancy weight gain is almost a very common issue that every pregnant woman complains about.

Gaining weight during pregnancy is very normal as a baby is growing and they are having a weight of around three kilograms. The uterus growth, placenta, breast tissues, etc. all add to our body weight. The weight gain is not the same for all women some experience a huge weight gain whereas some women do not gain weight. You can even manage your weight during pregnancy if you eat healthily. Here are some tips to keep a check on your weight during pregnancy so that you don’t gain too much weight:

  • Add fruits to your diet: You need to add fruits to your pregnancy diet as they help in completing the nutrient requirement in your body. Add fresh and seasonal fruits to your diet instead of eating frozen or stored fruits.
  • Add green leafy vegetables: No matter how much you are gaining during your pregnancy you must never be on a diet. Doing any kind of diet during your pregnancy can affect your baby and you must never put your baby at risk. Eat healthily and add green leafy vegetables to your diet.
  • Eat pulses for protein: Make sure you have added all types of cereals and pulses to your diet. Pulses are the richest source of protein especially when you are a vegetarian. You need to fulfill your protein requirement in your body. You can add pulses, eggs, meat, etc to your diet.
  • Drink milk every day: Milk is a source of calcium and it is required for keeping both baby and mother healthy. Prefer taking low-fat or skimmed milk as it will not add weight gain. Milk servings are very important for a pregnant lady in her routine. Those who skip milk have to suffer a lot of problems during and after pregnancy.
  • Avoid artificial sweeteners and packed food: Many ladies start eating artificial sweeteners and packed food during their pregnancy. But you need to avoid taking these foods. These foods are not healthy and also cause sudden weight gain. Natural sweeteners a way better than artificial ones.
  • Avoid junk food: Junk or fried food is neither healthy for a pregnant lady nor for us. You have to avoid junk food to the maximum extent to avoid gaining weight.
